Atiku Blasts Tinubu Over School Abductions and Killings as Security Crisis Deepens

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as well as the killing of innocent citizens in Katsina State, including a pregnant woman, describing the incidents as evidence of a government that has failed in its most basic responsibility to protect lives.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said he was particularly devastated by the news of the murder of one of the teachers abducted during the Ogbomoso incident.

He argued that the ongoing bloodshed across the country was not just a security failure but a complete collapse of leadership at the highest level.

The former vice president accused President Tinubu of governing only through press releases and condemnation statements after tragedies occur, rather than taking decisive action to prevent them.

He said Nigerians had heard the same script of threats and outrage too many times for it to carry any meaning.

Atiku also raised alarm over reports suggesting that the government was attempting to suppress images and documentation of the killings from reaching the public, describing such an action as not just incompetence but cruelty.

He insisted that no serious government hides evidence of mass killings to protect its political image.

He called for the immediate rescue of all abducted victims in Oyo State, urgent security intervention across vulnerable communities, and a total overhaul of the country’s security architecture, which he described as increasingly ineffective.
