Okpebholo Welcomes Nancy Isime to Edo, Commends Children’s Day Outreach

Governor Monday Okpebholo on Tuesday welcomed renowned Nollywood actress and entertainment personality, Miss Nancy Isime, to the Edo State Government House, commending her for her commitment to giving back to society through her outreach to school children in the state.

Receiving the actress during her courtesy visit to Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo, represented by his deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, praised Isime for reconnecting with her Edo roots and using her platform to inspire young people.

He particularly commended her planned engagement with school children at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium as part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day celebration in Benin City.

“First, I want to thank you for giving back to your dear state. You have been away for a very long time, and now, with this programme on Children’s Day, a lot can be achieved,” Idahosa said.

“I understand you will be visiting some schools, and I wish you a successful and fruitful event.”

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Edith Ebomonyi, who led the entourage to the Deputy Governor’s Office, briefed him on Isime’s itinerary and the purpose of her visit to the state.

Speaking during the visit, Isime described it as a privilege to be identified as an Edo daughter, noting that she takes pride in her heritage as a full-blooded daughter of Irrua.

“I wear being an Edo indigene very proudly, like a cloak. It is my culture, my pride. These are my roots. When I walked in here, it felt amazing,” she said.

The actress said she was honoured to be part of the Children’s Day activities and to serve as a source of inspiration to children in the state.

Expressing her passion for children, Isime noted that young people remain vital instruments for shaping and changing the world, adding that she was proud to be the face engaging with them at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium during the celebration.
