Angolan champions chase 3SC keeper Lawal

Super Eagles goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal has become one of the most sought-after free agents in African football after his contract with Shooting Stars expired, with clubs from Angola, Sierra Leone and across Nigeria all racing to secure his signature, PidomNigeria Sports Extra reports.
According to Footy-Africa, Angolan champions Petro de Luanda and Sierra Leonean club FC Kallon have both identified Lawal as a priority target, while NPFL champions Rangers International and Plateau United are also monitoring his situation should he opt to remain in Nigeria.
Lawal’s availability follows a stellar campaign with Shooting Stars, where his performances between the posts guided the Ibadan-based club to a third-place finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League and secured their qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The club are understood to be keen on retaining him and have already held contract extension talks, but negotiations have stalled without agreement, leaving the goalkeeper free to weigh his options.
A move to Petro de Luanda would represent the most ambitious step of Lawal’s career, offering continental football with one of Africa’s better-resourced clubs.
FC Kallon, owned by former Inter Milan and Monaco forward Mohamed Kallon, present an intriguing alternative in Sierra Leone, with the ambitious club understood to be tracking the goalkeeper closely.
Lawal’s stock has risen considerably since he represented Nigeria at the last Africa Nations Championship tournament, and he now holds a strong hand in transfer negotiations that look set to define his career trajectory heading into his peak years.
