Horror as teen 'lured from home and gang raped in hotel' – manager among those arrested

A teenage girl was allegedly dragged into a car and gang-raped at a hotel. The horrific incident reportedly happened at a hotel in Durgapur, West Bengal, India.

Local media has reported that police said four suspects, including a hotel manager and the woman accused of taking the girl from her home, have been arrested. It is understood that there is another suspect who is yet to be detained.

The victim’s father reportedly said that his 14-year-old daughter was lured out of her home by another young woman, before the teen was forced to drink beer mixed with an “intoxicant”.

After falling unconscious, she was taken to a hotel in Durgapur and allegedly sexually assaulted by a number of men.

She was discovered in a distressed state by a rickshaw driver who took her home before she was taken to hospital by her family.

Officers have since been searching CCTV footage from the area where the alleged abduction happened and from the hotel where the reported attacks happened.

A police spokesperson said: “We are working around the clock to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice”, the Sunday Guardian reported.

The case has ignited anger in the community, with many revealing concerns about women’s safety in the area.
