A woman has been apprehended by community members in Ovia North-East after allegedly ab@ndoning her 5-year-old child in a river, citing the advice of a so-called seer.
According to the woman, she had been unable to conceive again after giving birth to the child, who she also claimed had been unable to walk since birth.
She said she subsequently consulted a seer in Benin, who allegedly told her that the child was a p¥th0n in human form.
The seer reportedly warned her that unless she got rid of the child, she would either continue giving birth to children with similar conditions or remain unable to conceive altogether.
Acting on the seer’s counsel, she allegedly threw the child into a river.
She was subsequently apprehended by members of the local community following the incident.
