48 Borno women freed after 24 hours in captivity

Forty-eight women who were forcefully abducted by Boko Haram insurgents in the Mafa local government area of Borno State have regained their freedom. This positive development was shared by Zagazola Makama, a proficient Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region, on Thursday.

Makama, who conveyed this news on his reliable platform, confirmed that the women had been kidnapped from their farmlands on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. He revealed that the victims had been taken to an undisclosed location following their abduction, and subsequently, the Boko Haram group had demanded ransoms from their families.

In the words of Makama, “The women were liberated on Wednesday, August 23, following the payment of N50,000 each to the terrorists as ransom.” He also added that prior to this, eight of the initially abducted women had been released after their families paid N20,000 each in ransom.
