Tribunal denies reports of setting September 16 as judgement date for petitions against Tinubu

The Presidential Tribunal has responded to a rumor regarding the potential announcement of a date for delivering judgments on the petitions that question the legitimacy of President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25th elections.

A user named Serah Ibrahim, who used to post on a platform called X (previously known as Twitter), tweeted at approximately 11:51 pm on August 27th. The tweet stated that the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPC) has allegedly designated September 16, 2023, as the date when they will issue a judgment on the case involving Peter Obi, the Labour Party, Bola Tinubu, INEC, Shettima, and APC.

The tweet has gone viral, amassing over 522.5k views, 2840 reposts and 5798 likes, at the time of writing. 

The Secretary of the PEPC panel, Barrister Josephine J. Ekperobe told news reporters that “No date yet.”, when asked to give confirmation on the news of September 16, 2023, being set as the date for the judgment of the petitions challenging President Tinubu’s election.
