No ransom paid to launch 20 medical college students – Police

The Drive Headquarters on Saturday mentioned no ransom was paid to launch the 20 medical college students kidnapped by gunmen in Benue, North Central Nigeria.

Drive Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a put up on X confirmed the discharge of 20 medical college students and others.

“We verify the discharge of our brothers and sisters and another Nigerians who’ve been in captivity on Friday twenty third August 2024 in Ntunkon forest, Benue State.

“With none ransom paid. Opposite to some tweets and unconfirmed tales that some cash was paid, no kobo was paid to launch them,” he mentioned.

Adejobi mentioned the scholars and others had been rescued by safety businesses, locals and the Workplace of the Nationwide Safety Adviser (ONSA).

“They had been truly rescued tactically and professionally. We commend the safety businesses, locals, and ONSA for his or her dedication and resilience. Because of you all. Extra particulars quickly,” Adejobi mentioned.
