BREAKING: Sowore launched after arrest at Lagos airport

The presidential candidate of the African Motion Congress within the 2023 election, Omoyele Sowore, has been launched minutes after his arrest.

It was earlier reported that Sowore was arrested on Sunday morning at Murtala Muhammad Worldwide Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State.

He wrote, “I had simply arrived in Nigeria from the USA at MMIA in Lagos; upon reaching Nigerian Immigration, my passport was seized, they usually advised me that they had orders to detain me.

“This isn’t sudden as a result of I’ve all the time identified that it’s a part of the broader clampdown by the fascist @officialAbat regime on dissent and their concern of the upcoming #FearlessINOctober revolt.

“In case this turns into one other extended and protracted detention, I urge our residents to make sure they ALL cease tyranny by all means acceptable and vital, by partaking within the deliberate collection of direct actions slated for 1 October and past.”

His flight left Washington Dulles Worldwide Airport at 6.14 EDT and arrived in Lagos at round 9.43am.

On Thursday, 12 September 2024, a DSS memo ordering the arrest of Sowore upon his arrival in Nigeria was leaked.

Nevertheless, in a put up through his official X deal with, Sowore disclosed that he had been launched by the Nigerian Immigration Service and his passport had been launched to him after it was earlier confiscated.

He wrote, “I’ve simply been launched by the Nigerian Immigration after a short detention and my passport launched again to me.”
