FG will spend N180.8bn on electrical energy subsidy in September, says NERC

The Nigerian Electrical energy Regulatory Fee (NERC) says the electrical energy subsidy invoice rose to N180.8 billion in September.

NERC introduced the electrical energy subsidy invoice in its month-to-month supplementary order launched on September 12.

On April 3, NERC accepted a rise in electrical energy tariff for patrons underneath the Band A classification to cut back the quantity the federal authorities spends on subsidising electrical energy.

BREAKDOWN OF ELECTRICITY SUBSIDY FOR SEPTEMBER

In keeping with the NERC report, the federal authorities can pay N19.92 billion to Eko Distribution Firm (EKEDC); N14.87 billion to Benin Distribution Firm (BEDC); N14.61 billion) to Enugu Distribution Firm (EEDC); and N22.21 billion to Ibadan Distribution Firm (IBEDC).

In keeping with the order, Ikeja Distribution Firm (IKEDC) will obtain N23.76 billion, Jos Distribution Firm (JEDC) N11.68 billion, and Kaduna Distribution Firm (KAEDCO) N13.14 billion.

Additionally, Kano Distribution Firm (KEDCO) will obtain N12.96 billion, Port Harcourt Electrical energy Distribution (PHED) N13.45 billion, Yola Distribution Firm (YEDC) N8.06 billion, and Abuja Electrical energy Distribution Firm N26.14 billion.

Previous to the rise in Band A tariff, Adebayo Adelabu, minister of energy, mentioned it was troublesome for the federal authorities to proceed to subsidise electrical energy, saying Nigeria’s debt to era and gasoline corporations was N3 trillion.

To this point, as of August 20, Adelabu mentioned N205 billion had been paid out of N1.3 billion debt owed to era corporations (GenCos).
