Gas stations shut down in Aba over excessive costs

The excessive price of sourcing petroleum merchandise from third-party entrepreneurs apart from the Nigerian Nationwide Petroleum Company Restricted (NNPCL) has reportedly led to many filling stations in Aba shutting down.

Sunday Punch reveals that some filling stations within the Abia State business metropolis that promote petrol to the folks at costs between N1300 and N1350 had been those that lifted the merchandise at prices greater than NNPC management costs.

The Govt Chairman, Unbiased Petroleum Entrepreneurs Affiliation of Nigeria (IPMAN), Aba department, Mazi Oliver Okolo, advised the newspaper that the NNPCL had not provided petroleum merchandise to their members up to now three months.

He mentioned the NNPCL had been promoting the merchandise to some suppliers, who not directly promote the product to the IPMAN members at exorbitant costs.

Okolo mentioned, “Our members now raise petrol at excessive prices and promote to motorists and different customers at excessive price,” including that if the refineries had been working, folks would purchase petrol at inexpensive costs.

He subsequently referred to as on the federal authorities to make the 21 NNPC refineries within the nation practical to cut back the sufferings of the folks.
