MTN Hails NCC For Approving Spectrum Lease Renewal

MTN Nigeria has stated that the lease income authorised by the Nigerian Communications Fee for the spectrum lease settlement between MTN Nigeria Communications Plc and Natcom Improvement and Funding Restricted will enhance its 4th era and third era providers.

Recall that MTN in a regulatory filling by the corporate secretary, Uto Ukpanah, on the Nigeria Change Restricted introduced the approval.

He stated the deal covers NTEL’s 5MHz frequency division duplex within the 900MHz spectrum band and 10MHz FDD within the 1800MHz spectrum band throughout 19 states.

The renewal is for 2 years and can take impact from Could 1, 2025.

“MTN Nigeria Communications PLC hereby notifies Nigerian Change Restricted and the investing public that the Nigerian Communications Fee has authorised the renewal of the spectrum lease settlement between MTN Nigeria and Natcom Improvement and Funding Restricted.”

In a recent comment by MTN Nigeria’s Chief Govt Officer, Karl Toriola, the CEO stated the NCC authorised a one-year lease enlargement of the spectrums to cowl the remaining 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory, efficient January 1, 2025.

Toriola defined that “This settlement covers the lease of NTEL’s 5MHz frequency division duplex within the 900MHz spectrum band and 10MHz FDD within the 1800MHz spectrum band, which spans 19 states.

“The renewal is for one more two-year interval, efficient Could 1, 2025.”

He additional defined that the lease would improve the 3G and 4G expertise of shoppers.
