Vandals destroyed 18 transmission towers in 5 days – TCN

No fewer than 18 electrical energy towers supplying energy to varied franchise areas in three states have been destroyed and stolen by vandals inside 5 days.

The states are Rivers, Abia, and Kano.

The Transmission Firm of Nigeria introduced this in an announcement signed by the Normal Supervisor, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on Sunday in Abuja.

It mentioned the ncidents current a serious problem to operations and hinder the success of its mandate to reliably provide uninterrupted energy to Nigerians.

“On January 14, vandals focused towers 146, 147, and 149 alongside the Owerri/Ahoada 132kV line in Rivers State, eradicating base brackets and compromising the soundness of the towers.

“In Abia State, Head of the Strains Division for the Area, Azuh Fortunate, reported the theft of bolts, nuts, and structural members from towers 160 to 162 on the Alaoji/Umuahia 132kV line, which was below restore on January 13, 2025.”
