CBN retains rate of interest at 27.5%

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has retained the Financial Coverage Charge, MPR, its benchmark rate of interest at 27.5%.
Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the CBN, disclosed this on the finish of the Financial Coverage Committee (MPC) assembly of the apex financial institution on Thursday.
The apex financial institution additionally retained the Money Reserve Ratio, CRR at 50 foundation factors and the liquidity ratio, LR, at 30 % and the uneven hall at +500/-100 foundation factors across the MPR; different financial coverage selections have been retained.
Cardoso defined that the speed pause was needed following the latest inflation decline, which dropped to 24.48 % in January after the Client Value Index rebase.
He mentioned: “The committee was unanimous in its determination to carry all parameters and thus determined as follows: retain the MPR at 27.50%, retain the uneven hall across the MPR at plus 500 to minus 100 foundation factors. Retain the money reserve ratio of deposit cash banks at 50% and service provider banks at 16% and retain the liquidity ratio at 30%.”
