Ned Nwoko left PDP over worry of shedding 2027 ticket — Oborevwori’s aide

An aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr Fred Oghenesivbe, has claimed that the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party out of worry that he wouldn’t safe the social gathering’s governorship ticket in 2027.
Nwoko formally left the PDP on Friday, submitting a resignation letter to his Ward 8 Chairman.
In his letter, dated 30 January 2025, Nwoko, who was elected underneath the PDP within the 2023 normal election, formally notified his ward in Aniocha North Native Authorities Space of his departure from the social gathering.
He wrote, “I write to formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a celebration I’ve proudly served as a basis member since 1999.
“My choice to resign is, at the beginning, as a result of deep divisions and factionalisation throughout the social gathering. This fragmentation has made it more and more troublesome to foster unity and advance the collective pursuits of our individuals. Simply this week, on 29 January, high social gathering functionaries degenerated to the bottom ranges, bodily preventing each other as a result of acknowledged factions, which have turn into irreconcilable.
“Whereas I bid farewell to my membership within the PDP, I guarantee all social gathering members and my constituents of my unwavering dedication to statesmanship, unity, and the development of Delta North.”
Nevertheless, Oghenesivbe, who serves because the Director Basic of the Delta State Orientation and Communication Bureau, reacted to Nwoko’s defection on Sunday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
He stated, “Senator Ned Nwoko defected as a result of he’s fearful of not getting the PDP ticket in 2027. All of us knew he would go away the social gathering in the end. It’s about 2027 politics and securing a ticket to run.
“In Delta as we speak, Senator Nwoko has been disconnected from the PDP construction and has not been working with social gathering leaders within the state. As of as we speak, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is the chief of the PDP within the state, and Senator Nwoko has not been partaking effectively with the governor.
“So, Nwoko is by some means scared that he might not get the PDP ticket in 2027 as a result of he has misrepresented our social gathering on the nationwide degree.”
