PDP suspends South-South zonal secretary

The PDP South-South Zonal Government Committee has suspended its Zonal Secretary, Chief Felix Omemu, for one month over alleged misconduct and unauthorised media statements discrediting the ZEC assembly held in Benin on Saturday.
Omemu had earlier issued a press release in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State declaring the assembly convened by the celebration’s South-South Vice Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, as unlawful.
He argued that, in response to the PDP structure, a ZEC assembly requires approval from the Zonal Working Committee, which, he claimed, had neither deliberated nor agreed to convene such a gathering.
On the South-South Zonal Government Committee assembly in Benin, Edo State, factional Speaker of the River State Home of Meeting, Martin Amaewhule, moved the movement for Omemu’s suspension.
The movement was seconded by member representing Ogoja/Yala constituency within the Home of Representatives, Godwin Offiono.
Amaewhule accused Omemu of misconduct, breach of belief, and fostering division amongst members.
Amaewhule mentioned, “Chief Felix Omemu has been suspended and a disciplinary committee was set as much as examine him.
“Omemu’s motion is against the law and an try and trigger disunity and dissuade members from attending the South-South ZEC assembly in Benin.”
Following the suspension, PDP zonal authorized adviser, George Turnah, was instantly appointed to perform because the Appearing zonal secretary.
On his half, Orbih recommended the ZEC for suspending Omemu, saying the transfer is a proper step in the fitting path geared toward repositioning the celebration and curbing the excesses of leaders and members of the celebration who’re bent on inflicting disunity within the celebration.
The assembly was attended by its Zonal chairman, Senators, and Home of Representatives members from 5 states within the south-south, in addition to delegates, besides from Awka Ibom State.
