UCH resident medical doctors embark on indefinite strike over extended energy outage

Members of the Affiliation of Resident Docs (ARD) on the College Faculty Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo state, have launched into an indefinite strike.

NAN quoted Uthman Adedeji, the affiliation’s secretary in Ibadan, as saying that the strike was as a result of energy outage in a number of the hospital’s residential areas.

The Ibadan Electrical energy Distribution Firm (IBEDC) reconnected UCH on Wednesday, after greater than 100 days of blackout.

The hospital had been disconnected from the nationwide grid over an impressive N400 million debt.

The affiliation had earlier issued a communique that members would embark on an indefinite strike if electrical energy was not restored no later than 4pm on Monday.

Adedeji stated whereas electrical energy had been restored, just some elements of the residential quarters have been reconnected.

“Arising from the just-concluded Emergency Common Assembly (EGM) of ARD UCH which was convened to appraise the present scenario, it was noticed that part of the residential quarters have been reconnected,” he stated.

“Another elements have been nonetheless left in darkness.
