PDP postpones N’Central, S’South, S’West congresses

The Peoples Democratic Party has postponed its Congresses for the North-Central, South-South, and South-West Geopolitical Zones, which had been initially deliberate for Saturday, April 12.

PDP, in a press release by Nationwide Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, introduced the postponement to indicate solidarity with Plateau State over current killings and to permit governors within the affected zones to attend the PDP Governors’ Discussion board in Ibadan on April 13.

Ologunagba revealed that the South-West Zonal Congress is now set for April 16, with new dates for the North-Central and South-South congresses to be introduced later.

The assertion learn partly, “The Nationwide Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has authorised the postponement of the Party’s Zonal Congress within the North Central, South-South and South West Zones earlier scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025.

“The postponement of the Congress is in solidarity with the Governor and folks of Plateau State over the current killings within the State in addition to to allow State Governors within the affected Zones to attend and absolutely take part within the PDP Governor’s Discussion board assembly scheduled to carry in Ibadan, Oyo State on Sunday, April 13 and Monday, April 14, 2025.

“Consequently, the NWC has authorised the rescheduling of the South West Zonal Congress to Wednesday, April 16, 2025, whereas a brand new date for the North Central and South-South Zonal Congress can be communicated by the Party sooner or later. To this impact, the NWC costs the Chief Emmanuel Ogidi-led South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee to proceed to supervise the actions of the Party within the Zone in accordance with the provisions of the Structure of the PDP (as amended in 2017) till a brand new South-South Zonal Government is elected.

“The NWC urges all leaders, important stakeholders, teeming members of the PDP, the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC), the media, safety businesses and most of the people to notice the postponement and be guided accordingly.”
