EFCC arrests ex-Plateau State Speaker, 14 others

Operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate of the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee, EFCC, on Tuesday June 17, 2025 arrested a former Speaker of the Plateau State Home of Meeting, Mr. Moses Thomas Sule and 14 different members for alleged cash laundering.

The 14 members are: Gwottson Fom, Sani Abubakar, Jwe Philip Gwom, Thomas Dantong, Happiness Mathew Akawu, Cornelius Dotyok and Agbalak Ibrahim.

Different members are: Danjuma Azi, Fwangje Bala Ndat, Salome Tanimu Wanglet, Namba Rimuyat, Nimchak Rims, Ishaku Maren and Paul Datugun.

The previous legislators have been arrested following claims by some involved residents of the state in opposition to them for allegedly violating the Cash Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022 and abuse of procurement processes.

Investigation confirmed that the previous legislators spent solely six months in workplace and the state authorities purchased a number of luxurious automobiles for them of their official capacities.

Upon leaving workplace, the automobiles have been meant to be returned to the state authorities however have been taken away by the legislators and all efforts to retrieve them have proved abortive.

The state authorities needed to procure one other set of automobiles for the current members of the Home of Meeting valued at about N2 billion.

The previous Speaker and different members will quickly be charged to courtroom.
