The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has handed the Federal Authorities a seven-day ultimatum to refund allegedly diverted staff’ funds from the Nigeria Social Insurance coverage Belief Fund (NSITF) and instantly represent the Governing Board of the Nationwide Pension Fee (PENCOM).

In a communiqué issued after its Central Working Committee (CWC) assembly in Abuja on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the NLC warned that failure to satisfy these calls for would set off a nationwide strike.

The assembly, chaired by NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, reviewed urgent points affecting Nigerian staff, the commerce union motion, and the state of the nation.

The CWC accused the federal government of neglecting staff’ welfare and undermining pension administration, insisting that the alleged diversion of funds have to be addressed directly.

The NLC additionally introduced the dissolution of its Edo State management, citing undisclosed causes.

“Sufficient is sufficient. Nigerian staff is not going to stand idly by whereas their sweat and future are stolen,” the communiqué declared.
