LASU workers shut down campus, begin indefinite strike

There may be pressure brewing at Lagos State University (LASU), as each educational and non-academic staff have downed instruments indefinitely.

The employees, beneath the umbrella of the Joint Motion Committee (JAC), comprising ASUU, SSANU, NASU, and NAAT, started the strike on Thursday, July 31, citing unresolved welfare points with the college administration.

In a joint letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the unions made it clear they gained’t return to work till their calls for are totally met.

“All workers throughout LASU important campus, LASUCOM and Epe campus have been directed to vacate their responsibility posts instantly,” the assertion reads.

Signed by union leaders Prof. Ibrahim Bakare (ASUU), Sylvester Idowu (ASUU), Oluwaseyi Lawal (SSANU), and Waheed Majekodunmi (SSANU), the strongly-worded discover burdened that the commercial motion is indefinite and complete.

The strike, they stated, was authorised at an emergency congress of the 4 unions, following months of stalled dialogue with the varsity authorities.

As at press time, lectures and administrative actions had been grounded, with college students left stranded throughout LASU campuses.

Administration is but to challenge an official response.
