NRC confirms Abuja-Kaduna practice derailment, offers particulars

The Nigerian Railway Company (NRC) has confirmed {that a} Kaduna-bound practice derailed on Tuesday morning alongside the Abuja–Kaduna route, triggering panic amongst passengers.

In an announcement issued by the Managing Director of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, the company disclosed that emergency operations had been activated.

“NRC confirms a practice derailment involving its Kaduna sure AKTS practice service at about 11.09 at KM 49 between Kubwa station and Asham station,” Opeifa stated.

He added that “emergency rescue, medical personnel, and close by hospitals have already been mobilised. Full praise of safety already on floor as effort is ongoing to maneuver all passengers on practice again to Abuja safely.”

The reason for the incident stays unclear, and it has not but been confirmed if there have been casualties.

The Abuja–Kaduna rail hall, one of many busiest in Nigeria, has confronted repeated disruptions lately. Notably, in March 2022, armed males attacked the road, leaving a number of casualties.
