Dangote Refinery Restructuring: Committed to Safety, Integrity, and Workers’ Rights

The refinery wishes to clarify recent reports regarding the ongoing restructuring of its facilities. This move is not arbitrary. It is intended to protect the refinery from repeated acts of sabotage, which have posed safety risks and compromised operational efficiency. Dangote This decision is in the best interest of the refinery given the frequent acts of sabotage across the refinery’s facilities, the serious consequences for human life, and the associated safety risks.

We will continue to monitor our internal systems and vulnerabilities to ensure the long-term stability of this strategic national asset. Protecting the refinery is paramount for the people of Nigeria, our partners across Africa, and the thousands of people who depend on it for their livelihoods.

Currently, over 3,000 Nigerian employees remain actively employed at our refinery.

Due to our continued recruitment of Nigerian talent through various graduate training programs and senior recruitment processes, only a very small number of employees have been affected. We recognize and uphold internationally recognized labor principles, including the right of every worker to freely choose whether to join a union. Our commitment to workers’ rights is unwavering.

The refinery exists to serve the people of Nigeria, strengthen Africa’s energy independence, and create decent, sustainable jobs. We will continue to work with our employees, regulators, and stakeholders to maintain the highest standards of safety, transparency, and accountability.
