FG declares September 5 public vacation

The Federal Authorities has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public vacation to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid.
Eid-ul-Mawlid commemorates the beginning of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Authorities in a press release issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Everlasting Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and the world over, urging them to replicate on the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.
The minister additional referred to as on Nigerians of all faiths to “use the event to hope for peace, safety, and stability within the nation, whereas supporting authorities’s drive for unity and growth.”
“The Minister of Interior needs Muslims a joyous and peaceable Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration,” the assertion added.
