“Furthermore, even when the crisis erupted in Rivers State, President Tinubu merely suspended Governor Siminalay Fumbala and members of the House of Representatives, while leaving Minister for Regional Cooperation Wike alone.”

“Such inconsistency fuels suspicions of nepotism and political patronage. The Nigerian people and the international community have a right to know why the president appears unwilling to address corruption allegations involving close political allies.

“Selective enforcement undermines national pride and makes Nigeria a laughing stock to similar countries that do not hesitate to pursue corruption allegations.

“We call on President Tinubu to immediately halt the investigation of Minister Wike and launch an independent inquiry, as was done in the Beta Edu case.

“The President should reject selective justice and political expediency to uphold the dignity of Nigeria and the trust of its citizens. The integrity of the Nigerian government and its standing on the world stage depend on it.
