Lotto agent arraigned over alleged theft of N2.7 million

A27-year-old Lotto agent, Daniel Ayomikun, was on Tuesday arraigned earlier than an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court docket, Lagos, for allegedly stealing his enterprise associate’s N2.7 million.

Ayomikun, who resides on Aladelola Road, Ikosi-Ketu, is going through a cost of stealing. He pleaded not responsible to the allegation.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, instructed the court docket that the defendant dedicated the offence on September 22 at about 8 p.m. at Jakande Market, Ikosi-Ketu.

Mr Bassey alleged that the defendant borrowed N2.7 million from the complainant, Wasiu Oluwaseun, a fruit vendor, promising reimbursement on September 23, however did not honour the settlement.

He stated the complainant gave the defendant N1.7 million in money and transferred N1 million to his Opay account.

Mr Bassey added that efforts by the complainant to get well his cash have been futile.

He stated the offence contravened Part 287 of the Lagos State Prison Legislation, 2015, which prescribes three years’ imprisonment for stealing.

The Justice of the Peace, Mrs O. A. Daodu, granted Ayomikun bail within the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till October 17.
