PDP members defect to APC in Ondo

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party throughout the 18 native authorities areas of Ondo State on Tuesday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The previous PDP members, most of whom are drawn from the state department of the Nationwide Union of Highway Transport Staff, mentioned they have been uninterested in their previous get together and able to work for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu forward of the 2027 presidential election.

Receiving the defectors on the APC secretariat in Akure, the state capital, the state chairman of the get together, Ade Adetimehin, welcomed them and urged them to return to their wards and start to work for the President’s re-election.

Adetimehin mentioned the ruling get together had no opposition within the state, including that the efficiency of President Tinubu within the state had been attracting extra individuals to the APC.

He mentioned, “I wish to welcome you to our nice get together; that is the get together of victory. In APC, we don’t discriminate. There are not any previous members; there are not any new members. We’re all equal; that’s the reason we’re profitable on daily basis.

“Additionally, I need you to return to your respective wards and native governments to work. It’s your capability within the get together that can decide your reward within the APC. We give everybody equal alternatives. You’re welcome.

“President Tinubu has finished effectively for us on this state. We will all see what he’s doing. His Renewed Hope initiatives are favouring us. Our persons are being given appointments, and work has begun on the development of recent roads in Ondo State, so we should work exhausting to offer him a landslide victory right here.”

The chief of the defectors, underneath the auspices of the Asiwaju Transport Motion, Mr Ojo Adewole, mentioned their defection was knowledgeable by the efficiency of President Tinubu within the state, significantly in street rehabilitation and development.

Adewole mentioned the defection of over 1,000 members from the 18 native authorities areas was impressed by the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, whom he described as a real chief.

He mentioned, “Why did we defect? We have been inspired to hitch the APC by our minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. We thank him for the chance given to us, and we won’t disappoint him or the get together.

“What we noticed is that the street tasks began by the fast previous administration of the late Muhammadu Buhari, which we thought could be deserted, have continued underneath President Bola Tinubu.

“We’re NURTW members; we all know the significance of fine roads. That is a part of what President Bola Tinubu is doing on this state. The dualisation of the Benin–Ilesa Expressway, the Ore–Ondo–Akure street enlargement, the Akure–Ado Ekiti Expressway and others. Additionally, the coastal freeway is ongoing.

“We’re delighted with all these. These are a part of the explanations we joined to assist President Tinubu for a second time period. We’re over 1,000 throughout the 18 native authorities areas of the state.”

It was earlier reported that the one PDP member from the state within the Nationwide Meeting, Mr Festus Akingbaso, and the three remaining members of the get together within the state Home of Meeting just lately defected to the APC, leaving the state as a one-party state.
