JUST IN: Six Rivers PDP reps defect to APC

Six members of the Home of Representatives from Rivers State, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.

The defected lawmakers embody Robinson Dekor, Solomon Bob, Cyril Hart, Victor Obuzor, Blessing Amadi, and Felix Nwaeke.

Studying their letters of defection to the APC, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, cited “divisions and unresolved political disaster within the PDP.”

Whereas acknowledging that the disaster within the PDP had made it unattainable for them to pursue their political aspirations, the lawmakers pledged to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

With their defection, the PDP, which beforehand had 12 members, now has solely two representatives within the Rivers State caucus of the Home.

Final week, the celebration misplaced three extra members to the APC, following the defection of Boniface Emerengwa, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, and Boma Goodhead.

The 2 remaining PDP lawmakers in Rivers State are the Home Minority Chief, Kingsley Chinda, and Kelechi Nwogu.
