Americans Stage Mass Anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ Protests Against Iran War, Immigration Policies

Millions of Americans have staged mass demonstrations across major cities on Saturday in the third edition of “No Kings protests”, opposing President Donald Trump’s policies on Iran, immigration enforcement and rising living costs.

The nationwide rallies drew crowds in New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Boston, Nashville, and Houston, as well as smaller towns. Demonstrators filled streets in nearly every major American city, expressing anger over multiple Trump administration policies.

Organisers framed the protests as resistance against authoritarian governance. Protesters held effigies of Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other officials while demanding their removal from office.

“Trump wants to rule over us as a tyrant. But this is America, and power belongs to the people – not to wannabe kings or their billionaire cronies,” organisers stated.

Naija News gathered that the October No Kings rally drew approximately 7 million participants nationwide, making it one of the largest protest movements in recent American history.

Minnesota Rally Highlights Immigration Deaths

Minnesota hosted a major protest following the January killings of two American citizens, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, by federal immigration agents. Thousands filled the streets of Minnesota while prominent Democratic politicians addressed crowds outside the State Capitol in St. Paul.

American musician Bruce Springsteen performed his anti-immigration-enforcement song “Streets of Minneapolis” at the rally, energising demonstrators protesting Trump’s immigration policies.

Thousands crowded New York City’s Times Square, forcing police to shut down busy Midtown Manhattan streets. The New York Police Department reported more than 100,000 people gathered across the city’s five boroughs during the October protests.

Demonstrators in Washington, DC, marched through the capital throughout Saturday afternoon. Protesters lined the Lincoln Memorial steps and packed the National Mall, carrying signs opposing the Iran war and immigration policies.

White House Dismisses Nationwide Demonstrations

A White House spokesperson rejected the protests as meaningless gatherings that only attract media coverage. The spokesperson called the rallies “Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions” and claimed only “reporters who are paid to cover them” care about the demonstrations.

Trump however has dismissed accusations of dictatorial behaviour as hysterical since returning to office in January. Even though, the US president has expanded executive power through orders that dismantle parts of the federal government and has deployed National Guard troops to American cities despite state governors’ objections.

“They’re referring to me as a king. I’m not a king,” Trump said during an October interview.

The administration has directed law enforcement officials to prosecute perceived political enemies. Trump argues his actions are necessary to rebuild the country.

Protests Reach Small Towns And International Cities

Meanwhile, demonstrations extended beyond major cities into small American towns. Crowds gathered in Shelbyville, Kentucky and Howell, Michigan, a community with roughly 10,000 residents. Protesters carried signs opposing the Iran conflict and Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.

American immigrants organised protests in Paris, London and Lisbon. Demonstrators held signs calling Trump a fascist and war criminal while demanding his impeachment.

Also, several American states mobilised National Guard units, though organisers maintained that the events remained peaceful throughout.

Critics warn that the Trump administration’s moves violate constitutional principles and threaten democratic institutions in the United States.
