Edo APC members protest imposition of councillorship candidate

Members of the All Progressives Congress in Ohuan Ward 9, Orhionmwon Native Authorities Space, Edo State, staged a protest on Tuesday on the social gathering’s state secretariat in Benin over the alleged imposition of a councillorship candidate forward of the native authorities election.

The protesters, led by the ward’s consensus candidate, Sunday Erhabor, accused unnamed people of trying to substitute his identify regardless of his endorsement by ward leaders.

Addressing journalists, Erhabor mentioned, “I’m the consensus candidate endorsed by the ward executives and leaders of Ohuan Ward 9. This determination was reached on March 22 within the presence of all aspirants, and all of us agreed.

“It’s shocking that after the leaders have taken a choice, somebody is attempting to override it by submitting one other particular person’s identify. For me, it isn’t a do-or-die affair. If the leaders who endorsed me meet once more and resolve in any other case, I’ll abide by their determination, however not that of a person.”

The protesters carried placards calling on the social gathering management to uphold inner democracy and respect the ward-level determination.
