Female teacher accused of sex with student in classroom and car after 'Most Caring' award

A disgraced teacher has been arrested for allegedly using her classroom and car to have sex with a student.
Ashley Fisler, 36, was charged on Thursday after her former student, who is now an adult, reported the horrific allegations to the police.
It is understood that Fisler was a social studies teacher in the Washington Township School District from 2014 until June 2023, when she left.
The former teacher was twice nominated for ‘Teacher of the Year’ and awarded as the ‘Most Caring’ teacher during her time at Orchard Valley Middle School
However, police have now heard from the victim of the alleged sexual assaults that took place in 2021, while they were students at the school.
It is alleged that multiple assaults took place in the classroom and in Fisler’s car. Officials said that text messages between the pair confirmed the “unlawful sexual nature of their relationship”.
The 36-year-old is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of second-degree official misconduct.
The top charges carry a maximum of 20 years in prison, while the second-degree charges carry a maximum of 10 years. She is currently being held inside Salem County Jail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Fisler denied of all the allegations in a statement to the police when questioned last week.
In a statement, Washington Township Public Schools said: “The district is aware of the charges announced by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a former middle school teacher.
“We take matters involving the safety and well-being of our students extremely seriously.
“The individual referenced is no longer employed by the district and separated from employment in April 2023.
“We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to do so. Because this is an active criminal matter, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
