India, Ukraine discuss Middle East, supply chains on sidelines of G7 meet in France

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Friday he had ”a meaningful exchange of views” with India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on the sidelines of G7 ministerial meeting in France.

“We discussed the developments in the Middle East, as well as the importance of regional stabilisation and the safe functioning of key global supply chains,” Sybiha said in a post on X.

Yesterday, on March 26,  External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had informed that he has arrived at the Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay in France to participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with partner countries. He is on a two-day visit.

His visit comes amid heightened global tensions, with discussions expected to focus on key geopolitical issues, including ongoing conflicts and efforts to strengthen international cooperation.

According to the official press release of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the EAM is also expected to hold bilateral discussions with his counterparts on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

While India is not a member of the G7, France, the bloc’s current chair, has invited it to join as a partner country. In addition to India, France has also invited Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Brazil.
