Speaking to the network, Trump added, “You can’t let a madman or a bad ideology have a nuclear weapon… we’re going to go and we’re going to knock them out — and that’s what we’ve done.”

In a potential diplomatic opening, Trump said Iran had requested a seven-day extension to his threat against the country’s power plants, but Washington instead granted a 10-day pause. On Truth Social, he confirmed the pause will last until Monday, April 6, noting that negotiations with Tehran were “going very well” despite what he described as “erroneous statements” in the media.

Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook warned that the ongoing Iran war has shifted the balance of risks for policymakers, making inflation a bigger concern than employment. “I would argue that the inflation risk is greater right now as a result of the Iran war,” Cook said, noting that tariffs and developments in the Middle East could further impact prices.

Tensions are also rising on the international stage, with European powers accusing Russia of assisting Iran in targeting US troops. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the issue would be raised with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in France, citing intelligence that Russia has provided satellite imagery and upgraded drone capabilities to Iran.
