A Nigerian woman, Nwokoye Lynda, reported an incident in which a Chinese landlord allegedly evicted her and other tenants from her apartment without warning, claiming he didn’t want black people living there.

Nwokoye described the incident two days ago in a Facebook post, calling it terrifying, unfair, and humiliating. According to Nwokoye, the landlord refused to return their 7,000 RMB deposit and called the police. At the police station, they pleaded for more time, and the landlord reluctantly agreed to let them stay one night and move out the next day.

Nwokoye also revealed that they were prohibited from using the swimming pool in another apartment building where they lived.

According to her, every time they tried to use the pool, they were met with excuses and ridicule from the landlord.

“I still can’t forget that. One night in China, our landlord suddenly barged in and said he didn’t want any Black people living in his apartment. Then he called the police and said we had to move out that night,” she wrote.

In China, you sign a contract before renting a place, pay two months’ deposit and one month’s rent in advance.

Our landlord withheld our nearly 7,000 RMB deposit and refused to return it, while the police did nothing. Can you imagine? We stayed at the police station until 3 a.m., trying to resolve the issue. We pleaded, explained everything, and tried everything.

Finally, he allowed us to stay for one night, with the deadline being noon the next day, but he charged us a fee. Initially, he estimated 400 RMB; we ended up paying 250 RMB.

To be honest, it was horrible, unfair, and humiliating. But we got through it.

To this day, we haven’t gotten our bail back, despite the police’s promise to help us.

It still makes me angry just thinking about it!
