The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 14.

.....

Naija News reports that the agency had earlier directed individual taxpayers in the state to submit their 2026 year of assessment returns on or before March 31.

In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, said the extension was granted to give taxpayers more time to complete their filings.

Subair explained that the decision aims to help individuals submit their returns accurately and avoid errors. He urged taxpayers to treat compliance with tax obligations as a routine responsibility.

The LIRS chairman reiterated that tax returns must be submitted electronically through the agency’s eTax platform, noting that manual filing has been completely discontinued.

“Individuals are therefore required to file their returns exclusively through the LIRS eTax portal: https://etax.lirs.net,”
he said.

Subair described the platform as secure, user-friendly and accessible 24 hours a day.

He also advised taxpayers to ensure that their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly captured when submitting their returns.

The agency encouraged individuals who require assistance with their filings to visit any LIRS office or contact the service through its official communication channels.
