Melania Trump enters White House with walking-talking humanoid robot: Here's what she said about future of AI

The humanoid robot, known as Figure 03, is a lifelike artificial intelligence-powered machine developed to perform everyday tasks and demonstrate the future potential of AI.
In the video shared by Melania Trump on X, the sleek, black-and-white faceless figure can be seen mechanically strolling next to the first lady. “FOSTERING THE FUTURE TOGETHER. || 45 Nations || 1 Humanoid. || 1 Mission || Empower our Children. || The White House || 2026 Inaugural Global Summit,” she wrote.

During the event, the robot accompanied Melania into the venue, greeted attendees in multiple languages, and even waved to the audience.
Addressing the machine, Melania remarked that it was her first American-made humanoid guest at the White House. Videos of the interaction quickly went viral, sparking curiosity about the robot and its capabilities.
“Figure 03, thank you for joining me. It’s fair to state you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House,” the first lady was quoted as saying by NBC News.
Figure 03 has been developed by AI robotics company Figure, one of the leading companies in the expanding AI sub-industry, competing to produce lifelike robots. Standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall, the robot is coated in mesh fabric and has cameras in its hands as well as tactile sensors to assist operators in seeing their targets.
The robot operates using a vision-language-action (VLA) system, which enables it to process real-time data from visual-perception sensors like cameras and then utilise AI reasoning to solve, forecast, and accomplish tasks. It uses the company’s own VLA AI model, Helix. The model allows the robot to respond to voice commands.
In promotional videos, it has been shown performing activities such as doing laundry, loading dishwashers, folding clothes, and picking up objects. The robot is not currently being marketed for educational purposes or available for direct-to-consumer purchase.
At the summit, which was focused on AI and education, Melania addressed 45 female world leaders about the potential benefits of technology in the lives of young people, including the deployment of AI humanoid educators.
“Very soon, artificial intelligence will move from our mobile phones to humanoids that deliver utility. Imagine a humanoid educator named ‘Plato.’ Access to the classical studies is now instantaneous — literature, science, art, philosophy, mathematics and history — humanity’s entire corpus of information is available in the comfort of your home,” she said.
