New Ogun CP assumes duty, vows zero tolerance for indiscipline, human rights abuses

The newly appointed Commissioner for the Ogun State Police Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, officially reported for duty on March 30, 2026, with a pledge that his administration will have zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, and human rights abuses.

The new CP said discipline, professionalism, and accountability would guide his administration, aligning with the directive of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu that “citizens are our bosses.”

Ojajuni made the declaration during his first media briefing on Monday as the 38th CP of the state command.

It was held in his Conference Room at the command headquarters Eleweran in Abeokuta.

CP Ojajuni also charged the operatives to brace for the task ahead, stating that they must work with renewed vigour, discipline, and unity of purpose to achieve the command’s collective goals.

He noted that all these falls within the mandate given to them by the Inspector General of Police.

He said the Inspector-General of Police clearly articulated in his maiden address in the Force’s policy direction and directives, “emphasising unequivocally that the citizens are our bosses.

“This guiding principle will remain the cornerstone of my administration in Ogun State.

“The Inspector-General of Police also made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for abuse of office, indiscipline, incivility towards members of the public, violations of human rights, and corruption.

“These directives are sacrosanct and I assure you that I will implement them fully and without compromise.”

CP Ojajuni, who had held several positions in the past including the PPRO, Lagos State Police Command, and head INTERPOL among others, said discipline remains the bedrock of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Professionalism, respect for human dignity and strict adherence to the rule of law must define our conduct at all times,” he said.

He urged all officers and men to treat members of the public with dignity, courtesy, and the utmost respect.

“We must remain professional in the discharge of our duties. Respect, as they say, is reciprocal. Therefore, I also urge members of the public to engage with the Police and other security agencies with civility and mutual respect.

“See us as partners and work hand in hand with us in our shared responsibility of maintaining law and order.”

CP Ojajuni stated that his administrative machinery for monitoring officers and men “will be robust, proactive, and uncompromising.”

He explained that the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) will serve as a key channel through which members of the public can report misconduct and hold officers accountable.

He said the CRU is accessible via telephone, social media platforms including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and WhatsApp.

“In addition, the Gateway Shield App and the Control Room will remain continuously operational to receive complaints, intelligence and all relevant information from the public in real time.

“These platforms are designed to enhance transparency, responsiveness and public trust.”

Furthermore, CP Ojajuni added that the X-Squad and the Police Monitoring Unit will be fully deployed and strengthened to ensure internal discipline and professional conduct among officers and men, there will be no safe haven for misconduct.

“Let me reiterate that the few bad eggs within our ranks will not be allowed to drag the good name of the Force into disrepute.

“I encourage both officers and members of the public to remain vigilant and report any wrongdoing through the appropriate channels.

“The peace and security of the people of Ogun State remain my paramount agenda. I assure you that I will be accessible, responsive and committed to proactive policing strategies that will guarantee safety across the State.

“My administration will also be inclusive. All stakeholders will be given a sense of belonging as we work collectively towards a safer Ogun State.
