Remains of El-Rufai’s mother arrive Abuja for burial

The remains of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of Nasir El-Rufai, former Kaduna state governor have arrived in Abuja ahead of her final burial rites.
The deceased passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday, March 27, 2026, following a brief illness.
Her grandson, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, who represents Kaduna North federal constituency in the house of representatives, confirmed the development in a statement shared on his X handle.
“This is to notify the general public that the remains of our grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, have safely landed in Abuja,” he said.
He added that the Janazah (funeral) prayer would be held at the National Mosque Abuja at 1:00 pm, after which she would be laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery in the Apo area of the Federal Capital Territory.
Condolences have continued to pour in for the family, with prominent political figures including Nentawe Yilwatda, Dikko Umar Radda, Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, Abubakar Malami, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal visiting the El-Rufai family to pay their respects.
