Teacher dismissed over comments about r@pe and m8rder of 11-year-old girl

A teacher in Cameroon, Faustin Abega, who sparked outraged online over comments about the r@pe and m8rder of an 11-year-old girl has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

LIB reported that the minor, Mbarga Divine, was r@ped and k!lled by a married father of three in Cameroon. 

The suspect is said to be the father of the victim’s classmate.

The controversy erupted after Faustin posted a comment perceived by many as trivialising the tragic d8ath of the minor, drawing widespread condemnation across Cameroonian social media. 

Reacting to the tragic incident, Faustin wrote: “Get out, what was she first of all, looking for at their house. The man enjoyed the opportunity.”

His remarks intensified public anger, with many calling for accountability and sanction. 

His employer announced the decision in an official letter, citing gross misconduct and stating that his public remarks were incompatible with the ethical standards expected of an educator.

The school emphasised that a teacher is required to demonstrate exemplary behaviour, both in and out of the classroom, and that his statements undermined the institution’s values.

Following the backlash, Faustin claimed his Facebook account had been hacked and denied responsibility for the post. 

However, the school indicated that this explanation did not sufficiently address the seriousness of the situation.‎

Beyond the dismissal, the administration has reassured parents that measures are being taken to ensure the safety and moral protection of students. 

There are also indications that further internal checks could be carried out to examine the matter more closely.
