Tottenham sacks Igor Tudor as manager after 44 days in charge

Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with interim manager Igor Tudor after just 44 days in charge, following a poor run of results. Tudor, who was appointed on a short-term deal after the dismissal of Thomas Frank in February, oversaw just seven matches, losing five of them.

A club statement confirmed the decision, saying: “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for head coach Igor Tudor to leave the club with immediate effect.

“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”

Tudor’s departure comes with Tottenham struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table, sitting just above the relegation zone after a series of disappointing performances. His final match in charge saw Spurs suffer a 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest, further deepening concerns over the club’s form.

During his tenure, Tottenham also endured a heavy 5-2 defeat to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, though they won the return leg 3-2, failing to progress. The club added: “An update on a new Head Coach will be provided in due course.”

Tottenham, who have been in the Premier League since its formation in 1992, now face increasing pressure to avoid relegation as they prepare for their next fixture against Sunderland.
