UN representative resigns, alleges possible nuclear bomb use plan in Iran: ‘You’re sick to want war’

Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, an activist associated with the United Nations has resigned, making serious allegations about the possible use of nuclear weapons in Iran. Mohamad Safa, who served as the main representative of the Patriotic Vision (PVA) at the United Nations, announced his resignation on X, stating that he could no longer continue in his role.

Sharing a picture of Tehran, he suggested that the world body – the United Nations – may be preparing for the potential use of nuclear weapons in the ongoing conflict. “I don’t think people understand the gravity of the situation as the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran,” he wrote.

Safa added, “Uneducated, untravelled, never-served, warhawks licking your chops at the thought of bombing it.”
In his post, Safa said he had suspended all his duties to avoid being “part of or witness” to what he described as a possible crime against humanity.

He warned that the situation in the Middle East was being underestimated and called for urgent global attention to prevent catastrophic consequences.

Highlighting the human cost of war, Safa referred to Tehran as a densely populated city of nearly 10 million people. “It’s not some low population desert. There are families, children, family pets. Regular working class people with dreams. You’re sick to want war. Imagine nuking Washington, Berlin, Paris, London, or beyond, bombed with nuclear weapons,” he added.

He urged people worldwide to recognise the gravity of the situation and take action. He said, “Yesterday, nearly ten million people protested “No Kings” in the United States. The possibility of the use of nuclear weapons must be taken very seriously. It’s dangerous. Act now. Spread this message worldwide. Take the streets. Protest for our humanity and future. Only the people can stop it. History will remember us.”

Safa also emphasised the broader implications of nuclear conflict, warning of long-term consequences such as widespread destruction and a potential “nuclear winter.”

In an earlier post, he alleged that certain senior figures within the UN are “serving a powerful lobby and not the UN.” He added that he would step away from all UN committees and groups he was associated with.

Expressing deeper concerns, Safa stated that he could not, ‘in good conscience,’ continue in his role at a time when he believes the UN may be preparing for the possible use of nuclear weapons.

Reflecting on his tenure, Safa noted that it had been an honour to work with the United Nations for nearly 12 years under various Secretaries-General and Human Rights Council leadership, leading the PVA delegation during that time. He concluded his message with a brief appeal, saying, “May God bless this world.”

After much reflection, and after it became clear to me that some UN seniors are serving a powerful lobby and not the UN, I have decided to suspend all my duties as PVA Main Representative at the UN and from all UN committees/groups of which I am a member.

He further lashed out at Israel and suspected whether it was developing some nuclear weapon, stating, “If the world is concerned in secret nuclear programmes, there’s a country that doesn’t allow any IAEA inspectors, with a UN security council resolution 487 in 1981 says, “calls upon Israel urgently to place its nuclear facilities under the safeguards of the IAEA.” Israel refuses.”

He also appealed for humanitarian support, urging donations for civilians affected by the ongoing conflict in Iran, stating that many people are facing severe shortages of food and basic necessities.
