Why I Dumped NNPP – Kano Former Deputy Governor, Gwarzo

The former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has resigned from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), citing recent developments in the political space.

Naija News recalls that Gwarzo had resigned from the administration of Governor Abba Yusuf on Friday.

In a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the party in Gwarzo Ward, Gwarzo Local Government Area, the former Deputy said his decision takes immediate effect.

According to Gwarzo, his decision followed extensive consultations and careful consideration of the current political situation, which made it necessary for him to reconsider his membership of the party.

While expressing appreciation to the party’s leadership and members for the support he received during his time with them, Gwarzo maintained that his decision was driven by the need to pursue a different political direction that aligns with his personal vision.

The letter read, “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) Kano State Chapter, effective from today, 29 March, 2026.

“The decision comes after deep reflection and wide consultations with my political associates, supporters, and well-wishers across the state.

“Recent political developments and the evolving political landscape have made it necessary for me to review my membership in the interest of the people, and the future of our state and the nation.

“My decision is informed by patriotic consideration and the need to pursue a political path that aligns with my vision for good governance, democratic values, and sustainable development of our dear state.

“I wish to sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the party for the cooperation, respect, and support I received during my stay in the party.

“I remain grateful for the opportunity accorded me under the platform of the party.

“Please accept my highest regards and best wishes.”
