BURUTU—High Chief Thompson Robert Fuoye, a foremost aspirant for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 general elections, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives in 2027.

Fuoye made the declaration at Tuomo Ward 3, his home ward in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, during a series of engagements held over the weekend across Tuomo, Ogbobagbene, and Torugbene communities.

The event drew large crowds, with several groups and stakeholders endorsing his ambition to represent the constituency in the Green Chamber.

His campaign team, comprising supporters from both Burutu North and Burutu South, also toured parts of Burutu South to formally present his aspiration to the electorate.

Addressing residents at the various wards, Fuoye said his visit was aimed at officially notifying his people of his decision to contest the 2027 elections.

“I am here to formally inform the people of my ward, Tuomo Ward 3, of my decision to contest for the seat of Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections,” he said.

He noted that his manifesto focuses on attracting greater federal presence to the constituency, with emphasis on youth empowerment through the establishment of factories and vocational training centres to tackle unemployment.

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, who received the delegation at his Ogbobagbene residence, pledged his support for Fuoye’s bid.

“The time for Burutu South to produce the representative at the Green Chamber is long overdue, and that time is now. I support your aspiration,” Orubebe said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tuomo Ward 3, Mr. Bolou-ebi Nana, described Fuoye’s declaration as timely and welcomed by the people, assuring him of the party’s backing.

Youth groups, including the One-on-One Progressive Grassroot Crusaders and God’s Anointed Support Group, Torugbene, also endorsed the aspirant, pledging their support through their leaders, Comrades Caulmah E. David and Timadi James.

The event highlighted growing grassroots support for Fuoye’s ambition as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
