Senator Ned Nwoko has been charged by former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of deceiving the public over the intended establishment of Anioma State.

He also questioned the timing of current state creation discussions, claiming that such plans are unfeasible given the present parliamentary timetable.

Reiterating that any decision on Anioma State would eventually depend on a consensus between the people and the administration, he cautioned that bringing up the matter now could equal to misleading the public.

At a meeting related to his bid for the Senate, Okowa made the statement while speaking to APC stakeholders in Oshimili South Local Government Area.

Osaai Ovie Success, the governor of Delta State’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, shared the video on Facebook on Wednesday.

Okowa denied accusations that he is against the establishment of Anioma State, stating that no local indigenous person is opposed to the concept.

He emphasized, therefore, that the suggested state must represent the people’s collective will.

He claims that the nine local government districts in Delta North, which are located in the South-South geopolitical zone and have Asaba as their capital, must make up the Anioma State that stakeholders are advocating.

Okowa warned that attempts to change Asaba’s status as the capital of Delta State were misguided and ignored the historical work that went into its creation.

“I need five minutes to address the issue of Anioma state, which is something I have refused to publicly discuss,” he declared. They have a lot of false beliefs. On social media, there has been a lot of false information about Anioma State.

“No, Anioma son. I don’t think any Anioma son is against the establishment of Anoma state, not me, despite what some people claim.” However, the Anioma we are looking for has to be the Anioma that everyone wants.

“And the Anioma, which is composed of nine local governments in Delta North that will reside in the south-south geopolitical zone with Asaba as the headquarters, is what the people collectively want.”

“A daughter of Asaba fought for us, and now Delta State’s headquarters is located in Asaba.” Nowadays, if you don’t know how it happened, you might want to wish that headquarters away.

“It’s awful, and it shouldn’t be because common sense ought to have warned him that what he’s doing is wrong.

“We are aware of the headquarters’ significance. And Asaba is expanding uncontrollably by God’s grace. No one is going to halt Asaba’s expansion once more.

“It’s crucial that you stay in contact with your folks when we are pursuing anything, which is why I mentioned consultation and a consultative presentation. You have to understand what the majority desires. However, you will make a mistake if you think you know everything.

“I want to be very clear that if you are familiar with the legislators’ schedule, you will be aware that there is already a quarter left. Talking about the creation of a state now is obviously an attempt to mislead you. No dishonesty is what we seek.

“Anioma State, by God’s special grace, we will continue to make decisions, but when the time comes, our people will decide together. We in Anioma, along with the current administration, will unite and declare that we want this. And it is conceivable.
