Bauchi Gov Won’t Join ADC, He’ll Remain In PDP And Work For Tinubu – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has said that Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed will not join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Naija News reports that the former Rivers Governor said Bala Mohammed has decided to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike made this known during a media parley held on Friday, where he spoke on recent political moves and alliances ahead of future elections.

According to him, Bala had earlier made his position clear, insisting he would not defect to the ADC but would stay back in the PDP.

Wike added that Bala also indicated his willingness to work with Tinubu despite being a member of the opposition party.

The former Rivers State governor also revealed details of past conversations, saying that in 2022, Bala had confided in him about his strained relationship with Atiku Abubakar.

He said Bala had told him that Atiku was not on good terms with him and that working together would be difficult.

Wike, who has remained vocal about his political stance, restated his long-held position on power rotation.

He said he has always supported the idea of a southern president and maintained that his decision has not changed.

Speaking further, he addressed internal party matters, noting that some individuals were trying to claim a larger portion of political gains despite not being part of the struggle.

He said it was unfair for those who did not contribute to the fight to expect equal rewards.

He also used the opportunity to speak about ongoing defections within the PDP, saying the party is witnessing the return of members who had earlier left.

According to him, the PDP remains open to those willing to come back, adding that politics should not be seen as a permanent conflict.

“As far as I’m concerned, the convention has come and gone. People are trooping in. I will say, the door is open. Yes, we have had crisis. Now the crisis is over. Do we still have to shut our doors? No. Certainly not,” Wike said.

“Politics is not a fight to finish. It’s like a game, like a football. If you see it as a do or die, it becomes difficult to reconcile. For us, it’s not that way.

“We have had our differences, but if you’re really sincere, there’s nothing left. We can do it together and move the party forward,” he said.
