Bimbo Ademoye Confronts Extortion Attempt on Film Set, Video Sparks Outrage Online

Bimbo Ademoye demands “settlement” from the attackers who attacked her movie set.

Social media users have been sharing a video of Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye confronting a bunch of local boys who attacked her outdoor movie shoot and demanded “settlement.”

In the video that user Usmanashafe posted on Thursday, Bimbo was seen defying the men who were pressuring her to give them money so that she could film her film in their neighborhood.

In Lagos, movie crews filming in public or communal areas are frequently subjected to extortion tactics such as settlement.

“I am a street girl, let me tell you,” a visibly irate Bimbo told the goons. “I have no problem giving them money, but I will not tolerate a situation where they act as though they were demanding for the money.” Ask around; I like settling lads when it comes to affairs of the street. However, you don’t approach me and demand that I give you a specific sum,” she remarked.

“Yes, you came to beg,” Ademoye said bluntly in answer to one of the men’s rejoinder that he hadn’t come to beg. She remarked, “You are even being proud of it.” When one of the boys threatened to turn off her camera, the argument became more heated.
