Boko Haram Insurgency Will Soon End, Borno Belongs To Us – Zulum

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has expressed optimism that the Boko Haram insurgency will soon come to an end, assuring residents of sustained efforts to restore lasting peace in the state.

The governor made this known in an Easter message issued on Sunday through his media aide, Dauda Iliya, while felicitating with Christians in Borno and across the country.

Zulum reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening peace and fostering unity among residents, noting the progress made in promoting harmony between religious groups.

“It is heartening to observe the level of religious harmony between Christians and Muslims in the state. I urge all residents to sustain this spirit as we continue to take deliberate steps towards achieving lasting peace,” he said.

The governor described Easter as a sacred period symbolising sacrifice, forgiveness and love.

“As Christians across the world celebrate this year’s Easter which commenced on Friday, I warmly felicitate with my Christian brothers and sisters in Borno State and beyond,” he said.

He noted that the celebration marks the end of the 40-day Lenten season, a period characterised by fasting, prayer, repentance and reflection.

Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to improve the security and well-being of residents, highlighting efforts to cushion the impact of economic hardship.

“This year, we have scaled up our palliative distribution to reach over 300,000 families in an effort to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship. It is encouraging to note that many vulnerable households have benefited from this intervention,”

he stated.

The governor also urged residents to remain united and avoid divisive tendencies, particularly during the current political period.

“I want to remind us that Borno belongs to all of us. We must shun divisive tendencies, especially during this political period. We have embarked on a collective journey of recovery, and we must not allow enemies of peace to derail our progress,” he added.

Zulum commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, other security agencies, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, hunters and vigilantes for their sacrifices and recent successes in counter-insurgency operations.

He also praised traditional rulers and religious leaders for promoting peaceful coexistence, urging them to sustain their efforts in fostering unity and tolerance across communities.

The governor expressed confidence that with sustained collaboration and resilience, Borno State would overcome its security challenges and achieve enduring peace.
