Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville has said Arsenal have a golden opportunity to clinch the English Premier League (EPL) title when they face Manchester City next weekend.

Naijaonpoint Nigeria reports that Neville made the assertion while speaking on Sky Sports following City’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Goals from Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi and Jeremy Doku ensured Pep Guardiola’s side closed the gap on Arsenal to six points, with a crucial showdown now set for the Etihad Stadium.

The result has intensified discussions around the title race, with many tipping City to pile more pressure on the Gunners.

However, Neville believes the narrative has largely overlooked Arsenal’s own opportunity to seal the title.

“Arsenal have to consider and concentrate on what they’re going to do to Man City next Sunday,” he said.

“A lot will be said about what Man City can do next Sunday, and where they can go.

“But Arsenal can win the league next weekend. And that won’t be a narrative that’s promoted too much this week, but that’s the fact of it.”

Neville stressed that while much attention has been placed on City potentially closing the gap further, Arsenal should approach the game with a winning mindset.

“Everyone’s thinking Man City can get within three points,” he added.

“But for Arsenal, you can win a first title in 22 years next Sunday. That’s the way they should be looking at it.”
