Breaking: New Masquerade star Clarus dies at 85

Veteran Nigerian actor Davis Ofor, popularly known as Clarus in the legendary sitcom The New Masquerade, is dead.
He reportedly died on Tuesday (today) at the age of 85.
His death marks the loss of another major cast member from the iconic NTA series.
Ofor became a household name for his role as Clarus, where he formed a memorable comedic partnership with the character “Gringory,” helping define one of Nigeria’s most beloved television eras.
In his later years, the actor faced significant health challenges.
He had been blind for several years due to glaucoma.
Before his death, he had largely stepped away from acting and devoted his time to ministry, serving in the Aetherius Church, where he was known as Rev. Davis Ofor.
His passing marks the end of an era for fans of classic Nigerian television, with Clarus remembered as one of the defining faces of comedy in the country’s entertainment history.
