Naija News reports that the case was adjourned until Tuesday.

El-Rufai’s counsel, Ubong Akpan (SAN), disclosed the development while speaking with journalists shortly after the court proceedings.

According to him, the charges against the former governor were amended, leading to the removal of one of the co-defendants from the case.

Akpan said, “The motion for bail was taken, and the court took the plea of the defendant.

“The charges were amended, and one of the co-defendants was removed, leaving only Malam Nasir El-Rufai as the defendant.

“The court has adjourned until tomorrow.”

El-Rufai is currently facing a 10-count charge bordering on alleged financial misappropriation and money laundering.

Meanwhile, on Monday, El-Rufai was heard in court discussing the forthcoming national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The development comes amid rising tension within the opposition party, which has insisted on proceeding with the convention despite warnings from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against holding the exercise.

El-Rufai, who arrived at the court premises around 9 am, was briefly seen chatting with one of his loyalists before proceedings commenced.

Dressed in a white babbanriga and ash-coloured cap, the former governor was holding a document as he walked towards the courtroom alongside his legal team.
